Germany has not yet announced their final 23 other than a provisional squad. The defending Champion Germany is the most successful team just after Brazil.

Their target in Russia is lifting the consecutive trophy which only once happened in 1958 and 1962 by Brazil. If they can prevail the champion curse they are undoubtedly the leading team in Russia.

Like other giants they have also chance to outclass other teams but the question will arise when they would meet a team like themselves. There are 5 or 6 teams who have the best chance to take the trophy home.

Germany is one of them but there is no guarantee of ultimate success in FIFA World Cup.

Germany Squads FIFA World Cup 2018:

Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Marc-Andre ter Stegen (FC Barcelona), Kevin Trapp (Paris Saint-Germain), Bernd Leo (Bayer Laverkusen)

Centre Backs: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Matthias Ginter (Borussia Monchengladbach), Mats Hummels (Bayern Munich), Jonathan Tah (Bayer Laverkusen)

Full Backs: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Jonas Hector (Cologne), Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Marvin Plattenhardt (Hartha Berlin), Niklas Sule (Bayern Munich)

Midfielder: Julian Brandt (Leverkusen), Leon Goretzka (Schalke), Ilkay Gündogan (Man City), Sami Khedira (Juventus), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Mesut Özil (Arsenal), Sebastian Rudy (Bayern)

Forwards: Mario Gomez (Stuttgart), Thomas Müller (Bayern), Nils Petersen (Freiburg) Marco Reus (Dortmund), Leroy Sane (Man City), Timo Werner (Leipzig), Julian Draxler (PSG).

Goalkeepers

Manuel Neuer might be the first choice for his club and country. But his injury bound Low thinking alternative.

Ter Stegan now the no 1 Barcelona Goalkeeper will guard the net in FIFA World Cup 2018 if anything goes wrong with Manual Neuer. Bernd Leo from Bayer Laverkusen is another great option while Kevin Trapp was not regular for his team in recent season. But low will wait for his best keeper Neuer.

Bernd Leo has got a chance even his disappointing season in his club. But he has to fight for the position with Kevin Trapp.

Centre Backs

Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels will be the defense partner. They were brilliant in this season. Jonas Hector and Jonathan Tah in Bayer Laverkusen have passed a great season behind. They are ready to replace the seniors if any alternative required.

Full Backs

After the retirement of Philip Lam, Joshua Kimmich has shown the promise to fill his boots. He might be the full back of starting XI. Other than that he can handle the center position if any situation comes up.

Another left back Mathias Ginter from Borussia Monchengladbachwas considerably performed great to lift the trophy. He also has the competence for the central defense position. In this position Low has some sweet controversy. Antonio Rudiger is settling in Chelsea slowly. He is another option to make the task of Low difficult.

Midfielders

Bundesliga has provided their best for country. There are only 6 players in the Germany Squad for FIFA World Cup 2018 out of Bundesliga. In midfield position all of spectacular players have their first priority in their respective clubs.

Tony Kroos the heart of midfield in Real Madrid has a clear vision of scoring and providing balls for his forward. He is immensely praised in Spain every season he has played. He might be the spine of midfield for Germany. Who can make a pair in central midfield position with Kroos.

There are plenty of options. Mesut Ozil the most capped player for Germany in this team with his vast experience in club and world cups might help him to fight with Youngers. Leon Guretzka helped his team in confederation cup magnificently. But Khedira have a fight with Leon making first XI.

Khedira has also a rich career with his country. Ikay Gundugan of Man City is also in good shape. He and Sebastian Rudy are eagerly waiting to translate their form to represent in FIFA World Cup 2018, Russia. Julian Brandt another young one playing for Germany from 2016.

Forwards

Thomas Muller the player of big tournaments and the big soccer month will fly in Russia this summer. He needs 7 goals to break the individual record of most goals in FIFA World Cup. He is in lucky XI as Low must prefer his best scorer in front line.

Julian Draxler the winner of Golden Ball in Confederations Cup is another automatic choice despite his irregular appearance after the inclusion of Neymar in PSG. Marco Reus despite his injury included in provisional squad.

But he has to be fit for 23 men selection. Timo Werner, RB Leipzeig striker is true no. 9 for Germany. Though he is a must in the squad but might wait to include starting XI as Low prefers an all-rounder.

Germany Schedule in FIFA World Cup 2018, Russia

  • 17 June 2018 – Germany v Mexico – Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow
  • 23 June 2018 – Germany v Sweden – Fisht Stadium, Sochi
  • 27 June 2018 – Germany v Korea – Kazan Arena, Kazan

Who will change the game?

Germany has plenty of options to surprise the fans. Thomas Muller is always a big match scorer. From the Confederation Cup Julian Draxler is available for the golden prizes of FIFA World Cup 2018, Russia.

Tony Kroos or Joshua Kimmich might be eye catching and defense breaker of the rivalls. But my choice is Timo Werner from RB Leipzeig. His pace has enough threat to break the wall and expectations.

Predictions

Germany will top the table if the amazing performance of others stunned the world. Champion curse is another situation to consider. But Germany has played most Semi-Finals.

So, it is expected that they might pass the quarter final and they may be the only team after Brazil who can lift up the consecutive trophy.
